DeClare Denim

Introducing Declare Denim. We are an ethical, upcycled brand with an edge.

We sustainably create truly unique one-off pieces for fashion icons, because we believe you don't have to compromise your style to help the earth. Every one of us puts on a tough exterior to protect our hearts, and our jackets are no different. Our pieces are like armour - wearable art that showcases we're both tough and tender. Powerful and protective. Our reworked denim enhanced with embellishments embodies this duality.

What does it mean to upcycle garments? It means that we hand select high quality, preloved garments and reinvent them! We love nothing more than to create incredible fusions of the treasures we find, resulting in the sustainable and ethical statement pieces you will discover here.

It's a simple equation - we need to take care of our world so it can continue to support us and we can continue to look our best. Put candidly, fast fashion is an eco destroyer. But what can we do about it? We can invest in slow, ethical practises that close the loop in fashion. That's why we upcycle existing denim to create something that lasts. Because it's cool to have empathy, and that includes empathy for the world we live in.

Each of our designs is a genuine original, on average using up to 90% reclaimed materials. Each garment is named, numbered and then registered on our authenticity database paired with our customers names.

We use only the highest quality, primarily vegan materials. However on the rare occasion that we do select embellishments such as silk or feathers, they are reclaimed, so our respect for the earth doesn’t wane. Because we want our environmental impact to be small, but our social impact to be huge.

Andrea Lucy Designs

aa.jpg

Andrea Lucy Designs is my dream and it has taken so much hard work and determination to get here.

All of my life I’ve wanted to be a fashion designer, ever since I was a little girl. Clothes (dresses in particular) have always held a special kind of magic for me. Being able to transform yourself through a well put together outfit is like a super power because looking good and truly feeling beautiful can not only transform the outside, but the inside as well.

Growing up alongside my amazing Mum, she taught me the difference between FASHION and STYLE.

Fashion is trend based. Trends come and go. More often than not, trends will only suit a certain kind of body shape which isn’t exactly ideal.

Style is classic. Think of style as a crisp white shirt. It will never date, it is an item of clothing that will suit every body (with slight alterations). A crisp white shirt is also like a canvas. You can use it as a base to express your unique personal style. Maybe you’d wear the shirt as a dress or perhaps over a pair of black pants with an over sized belt!

My designs will always reflect classic, beautiful styling as opposed to current fashion trends.

Seeing my customers wearing my designs, stamped with their own personal style is the reason that I do what I do.

If it weren’t for the strong women I am honoured to call my family, in particular, my dear Mumsy, I wouldn’t be here living my dream. Kimiora, my beloved Mum passed away last year and it hurts so much that she can’t be here with me today.

A plus size woman her whole adult life, she was a fabulous example of how clothes have special healing magic. Even on her worst days, she would never neglect herself, every outfit was carefully planned and perfectly executed. Looking her best, no matter what her size or age was her mantra.

I want every woman of every size, shape and age to feel empowered by what they wear. Clothes aren’t simply garments to me, they are an embodiment of who we are.

I want to change the way women feel about themselves, one dress at a time.

Wood In Melbourne

Screenshot from 2021-09-14 18-02-56.png

Wood In Melbourne is my baby. A culmination of many, many hours of learning (mostly by trial and error), researching and failing. It serves as a showcase, storefront and place to share my woodart projects and ideas.

A project manager by day, most other times you will find me engrossed in a project of more tangible form. Selecting from a variety of skills I've developed over the years (mostly out of interest, or necessity).

The story of Wood In Melbourne started back in highschool, but only manifesting itself with the purchase of our first home in the middle of a Global Pandemic. Without much to do during the Great-100-Days-Of-Lockdown, I spent endless hours trawling the local hardware store and started working on the house. Quickly turning into building a few small items around the house, before discovering and into wood-art.

Humans have a storied past with timber. Building and creating with it for thousands of years. I want to continue exploring this relationship with nature, particularly how we can reuse and upcycle what people consider 'waste' into something of beauty.

The Laminated Cotton Shop

My name is Jacinta and I run The Laminated Cotton Shop alongside my small team (talented local women helping me out in school hours). We design and make products  in my Melbourne studio. Most days you can find me there.

People often refer to me as the shower cap lady, the good snack bag stall or my nickname, Jac. I love serving the world by making products people can use, wash and reuse instead of buying disposable stuff.

The things I’m most passionate about are reducing waste and supporting Australian made. When I’m not busy you can find me online shopping, binge watching Netflix or making pancakes with my 2 boys.

As a business owner I’ve been honoured by holding a Top Rated Ebay Plus seller status and being labelled a Top Seller on Etsy. Its a crazy fun adventure running The Laminated Cotton Shop.
